The Atlanta, GA chapter of the ITA College Tennis Alumni Network, led by Jesus Villamizar Abia (Georgia College & State University, 2023), hosted its first event on June 1st. The Roland Garros Watch Party was a fantastic gathering on the beautiful rooftop of Modera Decatur in Atlanta.
Alumni from the University of North Georgia, Georgia College & State University, and Clark Atlanta University (HBCU) came together to enjoy a day filled with tennis, mimosas, charcuterie boards, and snacks. The group included both former varsity players and club players, creating a diverse and lively mix of tennis experiences and stories.
The matches, featuring Zverev vs. Griekspoor, Fritz vs. Kokkinakis, and Keys vs. Navarro, were the highlight of the day, sparking animated discussions about favorite players and tournament predictions. The atmosphere was vibrant and friendly, with everyone meeting new people and sharing their love for the game. It was a delightful day of connection and shared passion for tennis, with everyone looking forward to future events.
“Bringing together such a diverse group of tennis enthusiasts and seeing everyone bond over their shared love for the sport was truly special. The matches were exciting, and the conversations even more engaging!”
Jesus Villamizar Abia, Chapter coordinator & Georgia College & State University alum (’23)
“It was amazing to connect with fellow alumni and reminisce about our tennis days. Watching the matches with a mimosa in hand made the experience even better. Can’t wait for the next event!”
Miyanda Wynn, Clark Atlanta University alum (’22)
