On August 23rd, the ITA and USTA North Carolina collaborated to host a College Tennis Alumni Tailgate at the Winston-Salem Open. College tennis alumni from all over the state came out to make new connections with fellow college tennis alumni and enjoy some top-tier professional tennis.
Attendees enjoyed a plentiful tailgate, which included games, food (notably Chick-fil-A!), drinks, and raffle prizes, before the singles and doubles semifinal matches that evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Center. The group was fortunate enough to watch current Wake Forest duo, junior DK Suresh Ekambaram and sophomore Luca Pow, compete against the tournament’s defending doubles champions in Friday evening’s doubles semifinal.
“It was a perfect night of connecting with college tennis alumni of all levels and generations, making new friends, and enjoying some thrilling professional tennis. We are excited to translate this excitement around the College Tennis Alumni Network into some new in-person chapters in the state of North Carolina!”
Elicia Smith, ITA Community Manager & Florida State University club tennis alum (’19)
