The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) College Tennis Alumni Network – Austin Chapter is a community of former college tennis players and coaches who gather to promote social and professional networking opportunities, support local tennis initiatives, and celebrate their shared passion for the sport. The Austin Chapter is led by Meredith Geiger-Walton (Arizona State University alum) and JoAnne Masongsong (University of Texas alum).
The Austin Chapter held its first ever event on March 23. It was a “Spring Fling” pickleball event at Austin Country Club. The event was open to all former collegiate tennis players and athletes, and had a great turnout with many participants bringing their family members and friends to join in on all the fun.
The event had collegiate athletes from a variety of schools, including the University of Texas, Stanford, Florida, Clemson, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Trinity, come out and play some high level pickleball. A top ranked professional golfer (and UT alum who is also an avid pickler) joined the fun as well!
“It was great to see so many world class athletes and professionals gathered together to connect, network, and share their common love for the sport of tennis (and now pickleball). The event was so successful that we plan to host another pickleball gathering before the summer brings on its Texas HEAT!! Stay tuned!”
JoAnne Masongsong, co-Chapter coordinator & University of Texas alum
